Mīkolelehua Storytelling Center is...

a creative incubator and ʻŌiwi Edge Research & Design (R&D) space where, using the Alaukawai system, haumāna co-design the future of ʻōiwi storytelling and contribute to the evolution of our Kula, Kamehameha Hawaiʻi.

R&D collaboratory...

More than a collection of workshops and classes, Mīkolelehua functions as a living lab that centers haumāna voice within a collective effort among haumāna, hoakumu, and industry experts to navigate an ever-evolving creative media landscape and imagine new models of ʻŌiwi Edge learning.

A talent pipeline into Hawaiʻi's creative media industry

Here, haumāna develop the relationships, skills, confidence, and portfolios that make them market-ready—equipped to thrive within the economic, political, and technological forces shaping Hawaiʻi’s creative media industry.

In honor of the great kākāʻōlelo—trusted orators who carried the words, genealogies, and visions of our people—the name Mīkolelehua aspires to their eloquence, discipline, and discernment, embodying the power of moʻolelo to shape identity, reclaim narratives, and forge thriving futures for ʻohana, ʻāina, and lāhui.

KĀ I KA MOʻOLELO E KANAKA AI.

Ever wish you could watch shows in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi?
This 4-day workshop trains you to help make that real. Learn acting for camera, stage, and voiceover with Ioane Goodhue from Chief of War in a supportive space. Practice voice, pronunciation, movement, and scene work with coaching. Leave confident with a filmed piece to share with ʻohana and community.

Build a Hawaiian RPG from scratch in 3 days—creating characters, rules, and storylines rooted in moʻolelo, ʻike kupuna, and loina Hawaiʻi. With guidance from Keawe Goodhue and Solomon Enos, you’ll test-play your system and leave with a playable game framework.

Designing Worlds from Moʻolelo: D&D Edition

Write your own short script with filmmaker ʻĀina Paikai, using moʻolelo and a Hawaiian way of storytelling. You’ll draft, read it out loud, revise, and leave with a polished scene to share (English or ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi).
